Ultrasound Therapy

Therapeutic ultrasound is utilized for injuries related to soft tissues, joints and muscle spasms. While it shares the same name, this ultrasound is not the same as that used diagnostically to screen the body internally.

An ultrasound device is about the size of a microphone and emits sound waves to soft tissues and joints which produce heat. The heat reduces inflammation, increases blood flow, and decreases pain and stiffness. The gel is placed on the area where the issue occurs and the device will work its magic applying heat and aiding recovery.

This therapy method has been around for many years with physical therapy to get blood moving and begin the healing for tissues. Patients with inflammation are recommended to use ultrasound therapy by Dr. Matthew Cleary in an effort to reduce the pain without the use of medicine and other painkillers. Athletes that suffer from muscle stiffness would benefit greatly and prevent stiffness and spasms moving forward.
